Human life ecology depends on a real IAM me ID and Equal Time Value participation in the building and maintenance of public infrastructure and competent public decision-making. If the solutions we propose are not public, democratic, institutional and universal, they cannot solve common social problems that affect everyone's individual equal rights to life, liberty and property, and our concomitant social responsibility for Human Economic Purpose:
Land and Housing Security (sustainable earth resources)
Health and Safety Security (air, water, food, healthcare)
Information Access Security (skill-set and tool-kit development)
Infrastructure Access Security (energy, reuse, machinery, transport)
Participation Accounting Security (GDP/ETV dividend and mediation)
How does the inability to secure a fair standard of living affect one's incentive to participate and reciprocate meaningfully, and how does this implicate community vitality, sustainability, and risk exposure to social conflict and violence? Everyone has natural limitations and knows something, or can do something, that someone else doesn't know or can't do. Special abilities should be appreciated and encouraged. Competency merits leadership and humility, not unequal compensation and a license to marginalize and deprive others of fair access to provide for themselves the necessities of life and an equal standard of living.
We are told there is a lack of skilled human resources in the economy and that companies can't find good help. Interestingly, these same companies are never employee owned and always have plenty to sell, while millions upon millions are denied access to education and opportunity, without much to do except face propaganda accusations of being lazy or trying to take someone else's job. In reality, there are way too many hands and not enough living-wage jobs. In sterile economic terms, it is called a "labor surplus," and a sure recipe for civil unrest, although ruthlessly profitable for Surveillance Capitalism (Zuboff, 2019) and the selling of military-policing weapons, prepper gear, and razor wire... until environmental boundaries are too far transgressed.
“Socialism for the wealthy and Capitalism for the rest.”
English Fable
The privatization of public technology got us into this fix and reclaiming our technology makes it possible for open governance to be organized in a federated, peer-to-peer, open source network that provides inclusive participation for life-long learning and informed consensus at local, regional, and transregional scale, using open source standards of competency, responsibility rotation, and sortition allocation throughout every sector of STEAMER ecology:
Sciences — Natural and Formal
Technology — Software and Hardware
Engineering — Design-Build and Repair
Arts — Cultural Feedback and Vision
Maternity — Health and Safety Security
Ecology — Universal Ethics and Governance
Resources — Access and Accountability Management
See Projects for how STEAMER team councils and p2p7p workgroups interface.
key questions:
Who are our neighbors, locally and translocally, and are we willing to include everyone?
Is everyone in our community involved, and what is our organizational capacity to reach and sustain full participation?
What costs of living do we externalize and impose on others within and outside our local and regional communities?
How does the unfairness of imposed scarcity, inherent in financialized capital, undermine the ecology of all stakeholders?
How does open source accounting and participation reduce conflict over fair access?
Is it understood that birth rates are consistently highest in high-stress, marginalized and impoverished communities; and that human populations stabilize at or below replacement levels in direct relation to how equally comfortable and secure everyone is in their ecosystem?
